Why is this important?
Suicide Impacts Entire Communities
Together, we can save lives!
Most people will encounter someone—a family member, friend, coworker, or student—who is quietly carrying deep emotional pain. Thoughts of suicide are often temporary, but the outcomes can be permanent. Knowing how to recognize warning signs, ask caring questions, and respond thoughtfully can interrupt a crisis at a critical moment.
People who are struggling do not always speak openly about it. Instead, they may show changes in mood, behavior, communication, or social withdrawal. Suicide prevention training teaches participants how to notice these signs and take them seriously rather than dismissing them.
When more people are prepared to respond, communities become safer and more compassionate. Prevention works best when responsibility is shared, not left only to professionals. Many survivors say they wanted relief from pain, not death. Training helps others support them until hope can return.
